Dr. K.Sekar, Ph.D., retired Professor of Horticulture of Annamalai University, assumed charge as the Principal of Don Bosco College of Agriculture on 5th November, 2021. He has about 37 years of experience after post graduate degree from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Before joining teaching service, he has served in ICI, a Multinational company, Bank of India and Indian Bank looking after rural development, extension, agricultural finance and project planning.

Dr. K.Sekar, Ph.D., started his teaching career as Lecturer in Horticulture in Annamalai University and has a vast experience of 33 years of service in AU with a long exposure to Diploma, UG and PG teaching, research and extension. He served in various capacities in Administration as Orchard In-charge, Head of the Department of Horticulture, Director of Academic Affairs and acted as the University Coordinator for PURSE and RUSA research funding. His area of research specialization is “Crop improvement of vegetables” and “Hi- Tech Horticulture”. He has organized  a National  Seminar on Appropriate Technologies in Horticulture and UGC sponsored Workshop on BHUVAN- A tool for precision  Horticulture. He has acted as research guide for about 44 PG and 6 Ph.D. students. As Director of Academic Affairs has compiled a Book of Value added Course and Hand book on MOOC courses.

He has worked as Project Manager in the Indo-UK project entitled “ Eco Horticulture” during his deputation service in M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation. He has rich international experience and visited U.K., Singapore, Malaysia, Isarel, Dubai, Sharjah and Abudhabi to study about advanced technologies and obtained Overseas Technical Trainers Award from Wolverhampton University, UK. and PG Diploma in Crop Weather Modelling from Israel. He has served as Member of Board of Studies in Horticultural University in Andhra Pradesh and Gandhigram Rural University. He has acted as the Principal Investigator in several International and National projects funded by IATP, UK., CAPART, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, TNSCTC and UGC. As Co-investigator has served in various projects including the Bio Villages and Biodiversity conservation. He has authored a Book on “Growth and Development of Horticulture” and “Research Methodology for Agricultural Scientists” and has published several international, national and popular articles.
